“We’re fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.”

Japanese proverb, maybe

Whatever path you’re currently on, whatever you’re going through, and whatever the destination, you’re going to get there, so you might as well enjoy what you can.

Take dancing as a metaphor for how to walk your path, or better, take it literally, and dance.

If you’re grieving for a loss, there’s no rule against finding solace in friendships and fun. This is not disrespecting the seriousness of the matter, nor is it merely therapeutic – it’s human.

If you’re struggling with your emotional health, there’s every reason to break away from the situations and thoughts that drive you down. You can face your difficulties and still seek a balanced life; you are a multifaceted being.

It can be tempting to either wallow in sorrow or throw yourself into pleasures. Both avoid the problem and the solution process, and neither are balanced or in harmony with Tao.

If you’re not enjoying, or dancing along, your path, then you need to consider what dynamics need touching to bring about a more balanced life, and the joy you need and deserve.

  1. Thank you for another thought-provoking post. “…his wings are clipped and his feet are tied, so he opens his throat to sing.”
